New Jersey Recovery Fund

They Showed Up For Everyone. Now It's Our Turn.

M.A.D. raises money for New Jersey adults recovering from paralysis that affects two or more limbs who are carrying a heavy financial burden and have spent their lives serving their community.

M.A.D. is in the process of forming as a New Jersey nonprofit. Tax-exempt status has not yet been granted, so donations are not currently tax deductible.

The Problem

Recovery Doesn't Stop When The Coverage Does

Injury and illness can take away a paycheck at the same moment the bills start stacking up. Therapy, equipment, travel, and missed work add up fast. The people hit hardest are often the ones who never asked anyone for help.

M.A.D. exists so that the people who give the most to their community are not left to recover alone.

How It Works

One Fund. A Clear Process.

01

Nominate

Anyone can nominate a New Jersey adult recovering from paralysis that affects two or more limbs, including themselves.

02

Review

Every nomination is scored against the same published criteria: recovery, financial burden, and community service.

03

Selected recipients receive support from the M.A.D. Recovery Fund, paid toward recovery costs directly whenever possible.

Why M.A.D. Exists

Built By Someone Who Had To Learn To Walk Again

Founder Keith Simmonds Jr. relearned to walk after two spinal cord surgeries. He knows what recovery costs, in money, in time, and in the people who carry you through it.

"When I was recovering, barely anyone came to see me other than my family. I want exceptional people to get their flowers. We don't just raise money. We bring a community to lift those chosen."
